What is the Brain Awareness Week?

Brain Awareness Week, was founded by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives and the European Dana Alliance for the Brain, is an international campaign to promote public awareness and support for brain research. The Dana Alliance is joined by partners across the world, including universities, hospitals, patient groups, government agencies, schools, and professional organizations to discuss and highlight the wonders of the brain to the general public.

This year, Brain Awareness Week will be held March 15-21, 2021.

At Florida State University, the Neuroscience Graduate Student Association participates in Brain Awareness Week by hosting several outreach activities throughout the year. In the fall, graduate students host Classroom Visits to provide Neuroscience-based lectures and information about upcoming outreach events to high school students in the Tallassee and surrounding communities. The Neuroscience Graduate Student Association also hosts the annual North Florida Brain Bee competition for high school students in February, and an interactive Brain Fair for kids of all ages in the Spring.
